APPLICATION OF A VARIATIONAL METHOD FOR INVERTING THE POTENTIAL PROFILE

The potential profile of the one-dimensional Schrodinger equation may be inverted from the reflection coefficient. For example, the famous G el'fand-Levitan equation shows their relation. But, in the general cas e, GL equation may hardly be solved exactly. Based on the Hulthen-Kohn variational method for calculating the reflection coefficient, a clos ed-form approximation formulation is used in this Letter for inverting the potential profile.
