Abstract
Data were collected from a stratified random sample of boat owners in eight contiguous counties in central Iowa to examine the extent to whi ch recreational displacement from Red Rock Reservoir in central Iowa h as occurred. Data are reported on the bivariate relationship between d isplacement behavior and the boat owner's overall satisfaction with th eir most recent boating experience. Results provide evidence of recrea tional displacement and support the use of displacement as an explanat ion for the lack of bivariate relationships between setting attributes and satisfaction. Boaters who were displaced from the reservoir were less satisfied with their most recent boating experience at the reserv oir than those who were not displaced.
