H. Watzig et al., ANALYSIS OF ACETYLCYSTEINE BY CAPILLARY ELECTROPHORESIS (CE) .2. DETERMINATION OF SIDE COMPONENTS, Die Pharmazie, 49(4), 1994, pp. 249-252
The purity of N-acetyl-L-cysteine was tested by capillary electrophore
sis (CE). The efficiency was optimized up to a theoretical plate numbe
r N of several hundred thousand. The most important impurities, N,N-di
acetylcystine and cystine were detectable in amounts below 0.05%. Thes
e and other possible by-products were synthesized and their identity w
as confirmed by NMR spectroscopy. All these compounds could be separat
ed.
