Abstract
This paper presents the field experiences during the process of bringi ng the state estimation fraction on line. Several practical problems i nvolving topology, analog telemetry, equipment parameters, system load calculation, pockets of unobservable buses and external equivalent mo deling were identified. Implementation of some trial solutions as a pa rt of Pacific Gas & Electric company's (PG&E) Energy Management System is presented.
