Abstract
This paper is the third stage of an activity sponsored by the IEEE. Ap plication of Probability Methods subcommittee directed to the identifi cation of techniques and approaches for monitoring, measuring predicti ng and applying reliability in the planning and operation of bulk powe r systems. The present paper considers the issue of where and how appl ications of bulk power indices will be made in the future and what ste ps may have to be taken to arrive at that point. The paper offers an o verview of trends in performance monitors and short and long term plan ning procedures to aid in the preparation of a forecast of future appl ications of reliability indices.
