Abstract
n-Butyrate, n-valerate and n-caproate were more inhibitory towards Met hanobacterium byrantii, Methanobacterium formicicum and Methanosarcina barkeri than the corresponding iso-acids. Butyrate caused maximum inh ibition irrespective of isomer. Methanobacterium bryantii was more sen sitive to inhibition than Methanobacterium formicicum.
