Cyclic voltammetry has been used to study the electrochemical behavior
of RuCl(eta3-C3H5)(eta6-C6H6) (1), [Ru(PPh3) . (eta3-C3H5)(eta6-C6H6)
]BF4 (2), and Ru(PPh3) . (eta3-C3H5)eta5-C6H7) (3); the latter was pre
pared by reacting 2 with LiAlH4. The reduction of 1 and 2 gives the 19
-electron complexes 1-. and 2., whereas oxidation of 3 gives the 17-el
ectron complex 3+.. The reactivities of 1-., 2., and 3+. are discussed
.
