Te-125, F-19 and C-13 NMR data for 33 compounds containing tellurium s
ubstituents are presented. The Te-125 chemical shifts in (PhTeCl(2))R
compounds are between delta = 878 and 1023; in corresponding (PhTeF(2)
)R compounds they are 220 to 360 ppm larger. Effects of substituents a
nd conformational interconversions (dynamic Te-125 NMR) are discussed.
Several diastereomers were identified in (PhTeCl(2))R derivatives whi
ch are stable at room temperature and differ in the configuration at t
he tellurium atom (restricted pseudo-rotation). It is shown that Te-12
5 is a well suited nucleus for chiral recognition.
