Yl. Wang et al., ACUTE CARDIOVASCULAR EFFECTS OF COCAETHYLENE AND COCAINE IN RATS, Research communications in substance abuse, 14(4), 1993, pp. 217-226
The acute cardiovascular response of anesthetized rats was recorded af
ter i.v. dosing with cocaine (COC) or with its metabolite, in the pres
ence of ethanol, cocaethylene (COCET). The two agents had similar pres
sor effects in the range 0.061-0.61 mumol/kg, both causing dose-depend
ent increase of maximal mean arterial pressure. The slope of the dose-
effect curve for COCET was steeper than for COC.
