Abstract
The application of ICP-MS for direct routine analysis of different win e types was investigated. More than 50 wines were analyzed for their r are earth element (REE) and trace metal concentrations. The samples we re mostly diluted 1:2 with deionized water. Matrix-matched calibration was performed using ethanol-based blank and standard solutions. Short -term precision of the measurements was very good, resulting in RSDs r anging from 1-3% for most elements. For REE determinations and isotope ratio measurments, the samples were run undiluted. The REE distributi on patterns obtained can be used as an indication of the origin of the different wines. The lead isotope ratios differed, depending on the o rigin or the vintage of the wine samples.
