A permanent method for tagging growing crutaceans is described for the
Malaysian prawn Macrobrachiurn rosenbergii. The nylon filament tag di
d not interfere with molting or growth when tested on prawns over a 17
-month period. Behavior of the prawns was likewise not affected by the
tags. Tag retention in small ponds 3 months after their placement was
100%. Recovery of animals from larger ponds containing fish was 78%,
but all animals recovered had retained their tags.
