Abstract
This study compared the performance of naive computer-users and users with significant levels of proof-reading experience. There was a signi ficant difference in performance between the two groups in the screen mode while none was evident in the paper mode. The results suggest tha t previous experience influences proof-reading and that users' perform ance in screen editing may be increased with practice and experience.
