Abstract
The intrapericardial placement of implantable cardioverter defibrillat or patches has been associated with a variety of complications due to the patch-epicardial interface. Extrapericardial placement of defibril lator patches minimizes these problems. We describe a simple and repro ducible technique to achieve this goal whenever a median sternotomy ap proach is used.
