Abstract
Bulk service queueing systems of a transportation type are considered. Practical algorithms based on the imbedded Markov chain and discrete time approaches are presented and a 'scaling approximation' is propose d for high capacity systems. Empirical results suggest that these meth ods will be sufficiently accurate for practical purposes, and can be i mplemented simply on a PC.
