THE SPIROTHECA OF THE FORAMINIFER QUASIFUSULINA

A SEM study on the test wall of Quasifusulina has demonstrated that th e ultrastructures in the spirotheca of Quasifusulina are different fro m those of related fusulinid genera, such as Fusulinella and Triticite s. The primary wall structure is prokeriotheca rather than diaphanothe ca or keriotheca, as previously described. The peculiar wall structure s of Quasifusulina may represent a previously unknown type of spirothe ca in fusulinid Foraminifera.
