Abstract
Reaction of the tetramethylfulvene-bridged complex (eta1:eta5-CH2C5Me4
)Fe2(CO)6 (1) with CS2 produces the triiron complex {(eta5-C5Me4)CH2CS
2}Fe3(CO)8 (2) and the monoiron complex {(eta5-C5Me4)CH2CS2}Fe(CO)2 (3
) in high yields via C-C bond formation. X-ray crystallography of 2 sh
ows that this complex contains a dithiocarboxylato ligand, S2CCH2C5Me4
, which bridges three iron fragments in a novel coordination mode. Cry
