Abstract
The estuary of Black river can be divided into four zones (oligohaline , horohaline, brackish and marine) basing on the graphs of the correla tion of species diversity indices with salinity. The gradual change of species composition is observed with increasing salinity. Freshwater species predominate in the oligohaline zone, brackishwater species - i n the horohaline one, euryhaline marine species predominate in the bra ckish zone, stenohaline marine species - in the marine one.
