Abstract
A new torsion pendulum for internal friction measurements at intermedi ate frequencies is presented. With this equipment it is possible to me asure not only the damping but also its derivative with respect to the frequency, at different temperatures. Some data on the grain boundary relaxation of polycrystalline Zircaloy-4 are presented to show the ap plicability of the pendulum. In fact, the activation parameters for th e grain boundary relaxation can be obtained even for very low damping.
