Abstract
Metals are often characterized by composing the cationic part of salts . A comparison of Na+ salts and their hypothetical O+ salt analogues i s made. Metals also compose anions and are often electron acceptors. A s such, the formation of Na- and 0- salts is also discussed, as is the bonding of transition metals and atomic oxygen to CO.
