The general term food allergy includes hypersensitivities of type I, I
II and IV as well as dietary intolerance. Food allergy is certainly un
der-diagnosed, and affects, above all, animals predisposed to allergy
(atopy and flea allergy dermatitis) by participating in going beyond t
he itching threshold. The clinical field is dominated by symptoms of i
tching which can appear at any age and are not very responsive to cort
icosteroids. Treatment is based on removing from the diet the food all
ergens responsible after their identification by an exclusion diet.
