Abstract
The luminescence of Ba3Nb2O2F12.2H2O and Ba3Ta2O2F12 are reported. The emission is due to the Nb-O and Ta-O group in the pentagonal bipyrami d NbOF63- and the monocapped trigonal prism TaOF63- in these compounds . The greenish luminescence shows a large Stokes shift and a high effi ciency. A comparison with related systems is also presented.
