Z. Pikramenou et al., LUMINESCENCE FROM SUPRAMOLECULES TRIGGERED BY THE MOLECULAR RECOGNITION OF SUBSTRATES, Coordination chemistry reviews, 132, 1994, pp. 181-194
Supramolecules containing a photoluminescent center (PLC) exhibit prom
pt and intense luminescence upon the molecular recognition of substrat
es. Luminescence from supramolecular assemblies is triggered by substr
ates that are light-harvesting and able to coordinate metal ion PLCs,
light-harvesting and non-coordinating to PLCs, and non-absorbing and n
on-coordinating. Our efforts to elaborate the photophysical schemes fo
r these three classes of substrates are described herein.
