Abstract
A multivariate statistical evaluation technique, non-linear mapping, i s proposed to extract information from a multielement microbeam proton -induced X-ray emission data set. Individual aerosol particles, collec ted in the North Sea troposphere, were classified according to their c omposition. Several groups of particles were identified and suggestion s were made for their sources.
