The reaction of 2-aminophenyldiphenylphosphine (2-PNH2) with [Os3(CO)1
1(MeCN)] and [Os3(CO)10(MeCN)2] has yielded the compounds [Os3(CO)11(2
-PNH2)] and [HOs3(CO)9(2-PNH)] respectively. The compounds have been c
haracterized spectroscopically and the structure of one of them [HOs3(
CO)9(2-PNH)] determined by an X-ray diffraction study. The ligand brid
ges an edge of the triosmium triangle with the P atom bound to a singl
e Os atom in an equatorial site. The amido N forms a bridge between th
is Os atom and one of its neighbours in the triangle.
