J. Enderlein et al., COMPARISON OF THE MASS SENSITIVITY OF LOVE AND RAYLEIGH-WAVES IN A 3-LAYER SYSTEM, Sensors and actuators. A, Physical, 42(1-3), 1994, pp. 472-475
The surface mass sensitivity of a chemical sensor device based on the
velocity change of Love waves and Rayleigh waves is calculated for a t
hree-layer sensor structure consisting of an intermediate gold spacer
and a split sensitive organic layer. The mass sensitivity is optimized
by variation of the gold spacer thickness. It is found that the Love
mode in 120-degrees-rotated Y-quartz is more sensitive than the Raylei
gh mode in YZ-LiNbO3 for an organic layer thickness greater than 2.5%
of the wavelength.
