This study compares the sizes of patients' edentulous arches with the
shapes of a range of disposable stock trays from one manufacturer. In
many dimensions there is considerable discrepancy between the two. It
is concluded that, even with tray modification, it is almost impossibl
e to obtain an accurate impression of the shape of the all-important s
ulcus regions. Such a conclusion emphasises the importance of obtainin
g further impressions in special trays which are modified appropriatel
y.
