Previous ultrasound speckle tracking methods have been extended, permi
tting measurement of internal displacement and strain fields over a wi
de dynamic range of tissue motion. The markedly increased dynamic rang
e of this approach should lead to enhanced contrast resolution in stra
in and elasticity images. Results of experiments on gelatin-based, tis
sue equivalent phantoms show the capabilities of the method.
