It is shown that die probability of the LAMBDA hyperon attachment to a
fission fragment, except for the case of near-symmetric fission, is p
roportional to its mass with the proportionality factor k congruent-to
1.7. The analysis was performed by using die method of linear combina
tions of atomic orbitals under the assumption that die LAMBDA hyperon
is in equilibrium with nucleons of a nucleus undergoing fission. The p
roportionality factor is determined by temperature and does not depend
on dynamics of divergence of fragments. It is shown that the proporti
onality factor for near-symmetric fission must be strongly reduced. Th
is does not contradict the experimental data.
