The lifetimes of the 6p 2D5/2o, 6p P-4(5/2)o, 6p 4D7/2o, 6P 4D5/2o, an
d 6p F-2(7/2)o levels in Xe II have been measured with a beam-laser te
chnique. A detailed spectroscopic investigation of the fluorescence ch
annels of the excited states has been performed to confirm the identif
ications. As a consequence of some reassignments experimental lifetime
values can now unambiguously be ascribed to these levels.
