Abstract
Direct muon transfer to helium from excited muonic hydrogen with princ ipal quantum number n = 2, 3, 4, and 5 is considered in a quasiclassic al approximation. Reaction rates turn out to be approximately 10(11) - 10(12) s-1 and should be taken into account when considering the casc ade of excited muonic hydrogen in hydrogen-helium mixtures.
