Abstract
The contribution of discrete sources to the hard gamma-ray background is estimated. Flat spectrum quasars, and to a lesser extent BL Lac obj ects, make an important contribution, which may be crudely estimated f rom the GRO results combined with the radio source counts. Normal gala xies contribute probably at the 10% level with the importance of the c ontribution depending upon the still uncertain evolutionary effects.
