A 30-year-old man with AIDS developed separate episodes of bacteremia
with multiple organisms including CDC group IVc-2, related to an indwe
lling central venous catheter. Recovery at each interval followed anti
biotic therapy and replacement of the central venous access. This is t
he first reported case of infection with this organism in a patient wi
th AIDS. A review of the biochemical features of this bacterium as wel
l as pertinent literature is presented.
