Abstract
Transport processes in a mixed conductor (e.g. a UO2 pellet) are rigor ously described by using an irreversible thermodynamic approach and a re-evaluation of the effect of thermoelectric power is carried out. Th e results indicate that the oxygen redistribution can be interpreted a s an electrochemical mass transport phenomenon caused by thermoelectri c power. The validity of this interpretation is confirmed using experi mental results from other sources.
