Abstract
A tangential vector finite-element formulation is implemented to deal with arbitrary cross section and metallic strip shape. Classical plana r transmission lines as well as nonconventional cross-section waveguid es such as the new microshield line are treated. Effects on propagatio n characteristics for these lines are studied when the metallization s hape is approximated by a lossy trapezoid area. (C) 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
