Abstract
Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) monolayers of hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium brom ide (HTAB) were deposited onto a carbon steel surface to investigate t he inhibition of corrosion by measurement of the polarization resistan ce and cyclic voltammetry. The corrosion process is efficiently inhibi ted by the HTAB monolayers in both neutral and acidic media, and the i nhibition mechanism is based on the blocking effect with the assistanc e of the charge effect in acidic environment.
