Poly(o-alkoxyaniline) Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films were deposited onto
indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass electrodes using the vertical dip
ping method. The electrochemical response of multilayer LB films was i
nvestigated by cyclic voltammetry which showed, in an acidic aqueous s
olution, well defined redox processes similar to those observed in fil
ms prepared by conventional methods. The film color changed with the a
pplied potential and was related to redox and protonation-deprotonatio
n reactions which lead to changes in the doping level and oxidation st
ate of the poly(o-alkoxyaniline) films.
