Quantum close-coupled calculations of the collisional self-broadening
of neon lines involving transitions whose upper level is either 5s'[1/
2](1.0), 5s'[3/2](1.2), 6s'[1/2](1.0) or 6s[3/2](1.2) and lower level
is 3p[1/2](1), 3p[3/2](1.2), 3p'[3/2](1.2) or 3p[5/2](2) are presented
for temperatures between 70 and 400 K. These calculations are based o
n the quantum-mechanical impact theory of Baranger in which the intera
tomic interaction is represented by adiabatic molecular potentials cal
culated using model potentials for the electron-atom and atomic core-c
ore interactions. We discuss the complications arising from the contri
butions of the highly excited 2p(5)ns (n = 5, 6) states and give param
etric fits to the width and shifts of all lines in the temperature ran
ge 70-400 K.
