Abstract
Plasma phenylalanine concentrations in fetal blood, obtained by cordoc entesis, were compared with simultaneous peripheral venous plasma phen ylalanine levels in mothers. The fetomaternal phenylalanine concentrat ion ratio showed a gradual decrease from 19 weeks of gestation to term with an overall ratio of 1.35 +/- 0.42 (mean +/- S.D., n = 14).
