Sg. Jo et al., MODELING OF THE CYCLOTRON TRANSITION THEORY FOR QUASI-2-DIMENSIONAL ELECTRON-SYSTEMS BY THE ISOLATION-PROJECTION TECHNIQUE, Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 30(1), 1997, pp. 103-110
Utilizing the isolation-projection technique, we model, within the lin
ear response frame, a many-body theory of the cyclotron transition of
electrons interacting with phonons and confined by some confinement po
tentials. We find that the only difference from the three-dimensional
case appears in the energy differences and the pair products of the in
teraction matrix elements for the additional confinement potentials. I
t is also shown that the transition occurs from the initial state (N,n
) to the final state (N+1, n) through the intermediate state (N',n'),
where N is the Landau index and n the quantum number for the additiona
l confinement, which implies that the selection rule is given by Delta
N = 1 and Delta n = 0.
