K. Kim et al., HIGH-PRESSURE STUDY OF LIQUID NITROMETHANE USING H-1 NUCLEAR-MAGNETIC-RESONANCE, Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 30(1), 1997, pp. 152-154
Nitromethane (CH3NO2), the simplest aliphatic nitro compound, is an im
portant monopropellant and explosive. While there have been several cl
aims for pair association in the liquid state, the mechanism of this p
henomenon has not been clarified unambiguously. We report evidence obt
ained by using H-1 nuclear magnetic resonance of a high-pressure dimer
ization above 750 bar in liquid nitromethane.
