The title compound, ',N''-propylenediaminato(2-)-kappa2N,N']copper(II)
dihydrate, [Cu(C9H18N4O2)(H2O)].2H2O, in which two amide protons of (
2R, 10R)-N,N'-dialanylpropylenediamine are released, exists as a monom
eric complex. The Cu(II) ion is five-coordinate with distorted square-
pyramidal geometry; the water O atom is in an axial position and two a
mine and two deprotonated amide N atoms are in equatorial positions. A
ll three water molecules, two amine groups and two carbonyl O atoms pa
rticipate in forming hydrogen bonds.
