ANALYSIS AND PREVENTION OF REPRODUCTION D ISORDERS IN GOATS IN A SUB-ARID AREA IN NORTH-EASTERN BRAZIL

An ecopathology survey was conducted in order to define the risk facto rs for abortion in traditionally raised goats in north-eastern Brazil. The survey showed a sequence of disorders in the reproductive cycle. A detailed analysis of this cycle produced useful elements to define p revention measures. The objective is to create, through changes in the reproductive cycle, a better balance between demand in the kidding pe riod and the seasonal forage supply. Kidding management measures may a lso reduce kid mortality rates.
