This paper outlines a theoretical development and solution of asymmetr
ic flow into a well. A semianalytical finite-element method has been u
sed to simulate the asymmetric nature of the probable ground-water inf
low. The procedure for handling boundary conditions has been described
, and a substantial savings in computation as compared to a standard f
inite element solution is indicated. A few numerical problems of pract
ical importance have been solved and results have been presented graph
ically.
