The distribution of the energies of the resonances observed in the C-1
2 + C-12 interaction is studied in a model-independent way. The analys
is of the distribution of the spacings between states having the same
value of L (for L less-than-or-equal-to 8) indicates a vibration-like
spectrum with an essentially harmonic behaviour. This result suggests
that the anharmonic term introduced by the current vibration-rotation
models is smaller than previously indicated.
