Rs. Hamilton et al., DETECTION OF AIRBORNE CARBONACEOUS PARTICULATE MATTER BY SCANNING ELECTRON-MICROSCOPY, Science of the total environment, 147, 1994, pp. 303-308
Airborne particulate matter has been analysed for elemental carbon usi
ng a scanning electron microscope equipped with a low atomic number X-
ray detector. Problems associated with finding a suitable filter paper
for sampling are discussed. Particles were analysed using computer co
ntrol scanning electron microscopy (CCSEM) with the Link program DIGIS
CAN. Interpretation and classification was performed using multivariat
e statistical techniques, including MIDAS.
