Abstract
Doramectin, an avermectin derivative, is an animal health drug candida te for the prophylaxis and control of endo- and ectoparasitic infectio ns. Conversion of avermectins to highly fluorescent aromatic derivativ es is used extensively for their quantitation by HPLC with fluorescent detection. It has been found that aromatic doramectin derivatives are readily equilibrated with their 8,9-Z isomers under ambient laborator y lighting. This may be a source of assay error which can be easily av oided by protection from light.
