Placenta percreta accompanied by intraabdominal hemorrhage and acute a
bdomen in the second trimester is described. Suturing the myometrial d
efect created by the protruding placenta prolonged the pregnancy and a
chieved a viable fetus. Successful achievement of hemostasis, prolonga
tion of the pregnancy, and survival of mother and fetus should encoura
ge ''conservative'' surgery.
