Phase transformations and structural morphologies of Ti-50Al-2Mn-2Nb a
lloy have been studied. It has been shown that the prior structures an
d cooling rates influence the two phase transformations, gamma --> alp
ha during heating, and alpha --> gamma during cooling. Mixed phase mor
phologies have been observed when cooling from the single alpha phase
region which involve different mechanisms of formation of gamma phase.
These observations are discussed in terms of phase transformations of
TiAl alloys.
