Abstract
Mastitis control programs were developed for mature lactating and dry cows; however, a significant proportion of breeding age and bred dairy heifers may exhibit intramammary infection, and management procedures to control this disease in young dairy animals are needed. The preval ence of mastitis in heifers is reviewed, and control measures for curi ng existing infections and preventing new cases of mastitis are discus sed.
