Nk. Martin et Pn. Dixon, THE EFFECTS OF FRESHMAN ORIENTATION AND LOCUS OF CONTROL ON ADJUSTMENT TO COLLEGE - A FOLLOW-UP-STUDY, Social behavior and personality, 22(2), 1994, pp. 201-208
This study investigates the impact of orientation attendance and locus
of control on the adjustment of traditional full-time college student
s to college life. Subjects were 242 upperclassmen from a large southw
estern university. Results indicated that students with an internal lo
cus of control orientation scored higher on the Freshman Transition Qu
estionnaire (FTQ), indicating more successful adjustment to college li
fe. No statistically significant relationship was found between attend
ance at Freshman Orientation and adjustment to college. Possible expla
nations for the lack of relationship are discussed.
